Super Bowl
Super Bowl Sunday is probably the biggest junk food fest of the year! Lots of chips and beer! I thought I would post a recipe for homemade hummus, which is not only delicious, but contains good nutrition too! Bring sliced pita bread and a variety of crunchy raw veggies to your SB party and at least have 1 healthy option! Compared to potato chips and dip, which have no nutritional value, you will benefit from a low fat, fiber and protein rich food source with fewer calories per serving. Hummus has about 50 compared to chips at 150.
Here is the recipe:
1 cup garbanzo beans (wash and soak to make 2 cups) You can used canned to substitute.
1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
1/3 cup raw tahini
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
3-4 Tbsp. Bragg’s liquid amino’s
2-3 fresh garlic cloves
1 handful fresh cilantro
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
Put liquid in blender to food processor first, then add garlic and then last beans. Blend until smooth.
You can add more a little more olive oil or Bragg’s to change consistency.
